Laura Lou Calbridge's Obituary
It was on a beautiful fall day—September 22, 1925—that Laura Lou Rascoe Calbridge made her entrance into the world in Royse City, Texas, born to Lucian and Pauline Rascoe. Over nearly a century of life, Laura distinguished herself not only by the memories she collected but by passing them on. She became the family’s living archive, a consummate storyteller who delighted in sharing her rich tapestry of experiences. She treasured recollections of planting pecan trees with her brother Frank, spinning the yarns of her Aunt “Sister,” and recounting the boyhood adventures of her sons, who always found ways to keep life interesting.
Laura’s passion for history extended beyond her family’s stories. In 1967, she personally researched and earned membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution, an achievement that stood as a testament to her dedication and resourcefulness. She safeguarded letters, photographs, and other relics of times past, ensuring that the family’s legacy would endure.
Laura found quiet joy in caring for her plants and the company of pet parakeets. Yet it was in her artistry that her gifts shone brightest. Her creativity knew no bounds—ceramics, needlework, quilting, crochet, and painting all benefited from her careful eye and skillful hands. She shared these treasures generously with family and friends as tokens of love and remembrance.
Laura is survived by James and Mary Crawford; Richard and Linda Crawford; grandchildren Marisha (Preston) Moebius and Sondra Crawford; and great-grandchildren Olivia and Lucian Vallejo and Kaitlyn Moebius and great great grandson, Mateo. She is also survived by Michelle and Lilith Calbridge, her brothers Joe and Johnny Rascoe, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She joins in eternal peace those who went before her: her parents Lucian and Pauline Rascoe, her brother Frank Rascoe, and her beloved Robert Calbridge.
Throughout her long life, Laura embodied a legacy of care, creativity, and quiet strength. She will be remembered for the stories she told, the art she shared, and the love she showed to all who knew her.
