In Loving Memory of Laura Dorsey Wuerz
October 22, 1932 - August 7, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Laura Dorsey Wuerz. On the morning of August 7, 2023, in Dallas, Texas, Laura peacefully departed this world at the age of 90, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.
Born October 22, 1932, in Weston, Texas, Laura was the precious daughter of John Olin Dorsey and Tommie Pearl Dorsey.
Laura's devotion to her daughter, Mona, was a testament to the depth of her love. Mona was not just her daughter but her closest confidante and partner in countless adventures, especially if it involved a shopping spree at the local thrift store or an endless gin rummy marathon. Their bond was unbreakable, and they navigated life's journey hand in hand. Laura was even called "Grandma" by Mona's beloved pets, exemplifying the loving and nurturing soul she embodied.
Laura's love language was undoubtedly gift-giving; she enjoyed baking and gifting the most delicious homemade cakes, a reflection of her culinary talent and her desire to share joy through her creations. Laura’s generosity extended beyond her loved ones as she had a heart for donating to charity.
Laura was remarkably talented and there wasn’t much she couldn’t do, she could even bait a hook! She loved fishing, was an outstanding storyteller, played the piano beautifully, and brought a smile to your face with her singing. Her green thumb was apparent as her garden was filled with breathtaking flowers. A master in the kitchen, Laura effortlessly whipped up meals that were not only delicious but also infused with love.
Laura, a cherished member of the Meadow View Church of Christ, deeply loved the Lord and her church family.
Laura leaves behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Mona Lisa Taylor of Dallas; her sister, Loula Bell Watson of Dallas; her brother, John Nolan Dorsey of Chattanooga; her niece, Cindy Buford of Dallas; and countless nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and even great-great-nieces and nephews who affectionately called her "Aunt Lala."
