Laurita Baker's Obituary
On the morning of April 20, 2016, Laurita Salvador Baker passed away at Mercy Gilbert Hospital in Gilbert, Arizona at the age of 82. Laurita and her daughter Laurie Ann, were visiting her granddaughter Stephanie Espinoza and her family in Gilbert, Arizona at the time of her passing. She resided in Dallas, Texas in the home that her and her late husband Ray had lived in for the last 42 years. Her daughter Laurie had been living with her over the last decade to ensure her well being and assumed responsibilities as her primary caregiver for the last 8 years. Most people knew Laurita by “Nanny”. Nanny was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on September 5, 1933. She moved to Dallas, Texas in 1955. She married Ray Baker on March 28, 1975. Laurita retired from Texas Instruments after 40 years of service. She enjoyed working in her garden after retirement and loved flowers. Her yard was always the nicest in town. She loved listening to music and dancing for others. She and Ray would always take road trips together and simply take in the open road, going site seeing as they headed to their destinations. One of her favorite places to visit was Las Vegas. Nanny is preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, the former Ray F, Baker; her parents Juan and Narcisa Salvador; brothers Joseph Serio Halbuna, Laurito and Felix Salvador; sisters Henrietta “Aka” Zane, Julia Omilda, and Philomena “Minnie” Angelias Nanny is survived by her daughter, Laurie Ann Briscoe Bucher; granddaughter Stephanie Espinoza and husband Lucas Espinoza; great granddaughters Justice, Liberty and Miranda Espinoza; her sister Connie Walters of San Diego, California; her brother Juan Halbuna of Eve Beach, Hawaii; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Nanny was a kind and giving person. She lived her life simply and with joy. Her love was unconditional. Every day she made us feel surrounded with love. She loved to make us laugh and could light up a room with her smile. We are going to miss our Nanny. Nanny will be placed to rest at Restland in Dallas, Texas next to her late husband Ray Baker. There will be a Visitation Tuesday, April 26, 2016 from 6-8pm at Restland Funeral Home. Service is Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 1pm at The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
