LaVerne Ann Lebkowsky's Obituary
LaVerne A. Lebkowsky, 86, began her journey home on June 19, 2017. She was born on May 7, 1931, in Mart, Texas to Walter and Sophie Schlemmer. She was married to Leon Lebkowsky and they were blessed with 67 years of happiness. Together they enjoyed raising their family, playing cards with friends and their extensive world travels. LaVerne’s favorite adventures included their photo safari in East Africa, touring all of Europe and Japan as well as numerous cruises. She retired from the Richardson Independent School District where she worked in administration. LaVerne was well known for sharing her famous cinnamon rolls, chocolate chip cookies, and carrot cakes. She had a passion for working in her flower garden, especially tending the beautiful flocks she inherited from her own mother’s garden over 25 years ago. In her recent years, LaVerne developed a passion for quilting with her friends at Highlands Christian Church. This was an inevitable extension of her amazing lifetime skills as a talented seamstress. Her greatest joy was her family. She was a lovingly devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, always willing to give of her time and attention. She taught them all by example to cherish the value of family and to live a life of Christ-like morals. LaVerne is survived by her husband Leon, son and daughter-in-law Greg and Monta Lebkowsky, daughter and son-in-law Tena and Kurt Jones, grandson and wife Travis and Abbey Jones, grandson Kaelan Jones, granddaughter and husband Kelsey and Josh Barton and great grandson Austin Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Marvin Schlemmer and granddaughter Lindsey Kay Jones. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Highlands Christian Church, 9949 McCree Rd, Dallas, Texas 75238. Visitation will be at Highlands Christian Church at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 24, 2017, immediately followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Graveside service will be held at the Riesel Cemetery on Monday, June 26, 2017, at 10:00 AM. Directions to the cemetery: From Waco Texas South on Hwy 6. The Cemetery is located on the right side of the highway, approximately 16 miles, and is located before the town of Riesel.
