LaVonne Jensen Campbell's Obituary
LaVonne Bernice Jensen Campbell, 88, passed into the presence of her Lord on November 28, 2016, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. As the Apostle Paul said to the Corinthians, “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” She was born in 1928 in Maquoketa, IA and died in Dallas, TX. LaVonne studied at Wheaton College and Fresno State University. For many years she helped run her family’s home-building business with her first husband Dave. She was also a long time employee of the IRS. She assisted her second husband, Donald Campbell, in his duties as President and Professor Emeritus at Dallas Theological Seminary. She took a special interest in assisting international students. LaVonne excelled at golf, winning many area tournaments. She loved all animals, especially dogs. She enjoyed the outdoors and camping with her first husband and sons in the mountains near their Yosemite-area home, often sleeping directly under the stars or using only a tarp for cover. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dave Jensen, Sr. and her son Tom. She is survived by her second husband Donald, sons David, Jr. and James, grandsons Matt, Scott, and Grant and granddaughter Alex. These and her other step-grandchildren in Arizona, Texas and Louisiana, all brought much joy to her later years. A graveside service for family and friends is scheduled for 10:30am, Friday, December 9, 2016 at Clovis Cemetery in Clovis, California. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dallas Theological Seminary. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
