Lawanda Janice Brownlow's Obituary
Lawanda Janice Brownlow, born to Curg and Julia Hatcher on November 3, 1934, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025, she was 90 years old. Lawanda lived a full and vibrant life, deeply devoted to her faith, family, and community.
Lawanda's love for her church and Jesus was a cornerstone of her life. As a dedicated member of First Rowlett United Methodist Church, she found immense joy and fulfillment in her faith. Her unwavering devotion to Jesus was evident in her daily life, as she sought to embody His teachings through acts of kindness, compassion, and service to others. Lawanda's involvement in church activities and her commitment to her spiritual journey inspired those around her and strengthened the bonds within her church community.
Lawanda had a passion for traveling, which brought her immense joy and countless cherished memories. She loved visiting Branson, Missouri, where she enjoyed the vibrant shows and beautiful scenery. Cruises were another favorite, as she delighted in the adventure of exploring new destinations and embracing the open sea. Through her travels, she met new people, experienced different cultures, and created lasting bonds with friends and family. Each trip added a new chapter to her story, filled with laughter, discovery, and a deeper appreciation for the world around her. Her adventurous spirit and love for travel will always be remembered and celebrated.
Above all else, Lawanda loved her family dearly.
Lawanda is preceded in death by her parents, Curg and Julia Hatcher; her husband, Donald Brownlow; her son, Carey Don Brownlow; and her brother, Gilbert Hatcher.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Anna Brownlow Holden; her sister-in-law, Peggy Hatcher; her step-daughter, Deborah Anglin; her granddaughter, Kaitlin Brinkley; her grandson, Rob Anglin; her nephews, Alan Hatcher and Gary Hatcher; and her beloved great-granddaughter, Winter Rose Brinkley.
Lawanda's passion, love, kindness, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
A service honoring Lawanda's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 6th, at First Rowlett United Methodist Church.
