Lawrence Curtis Board's Obituary
Larry went to be with the Lord peacefully on July 29th, 2022 at the age of 95 at his home in Carrollton with his daughter by his side.
Larry was born in Roanoke, Virginia on February 17th, 1927 to parents Ervin Board and Ola Neighbors. He graduated Jefferson High School in 1945 and promptly joined the United States Navy after his hopes of being a pilot were dashed. He attended basic training at Naval Training Center Great Lakes in Illinois and deployed to the Southwest Pacific shortly afterwards. There he served with a Support Squadron at Ulithi Atoll resupplying “the big ships”. He was present when the mighty Navy sailed into Tokyo Bay for the surrender.
After returning home from the war, he quickly pursued the love of his life Bertha “Teeny” Feuer, the two were married in June of 1949 and had three children. After attending Virginia Tech and attaining a degree in engineering Larry entered the world of refrigeration. After moving his budding family to Dallas in 1962 he started LCB Refrigeration and successfully ran the business until 2020. Larry loved his family, traveling, napping in the hammock, his cats, watching John Wayne films and the Dallas Cowboys.
Larry is preceded in death by his wife Teeny and two of his children, Ronnie and Kim. He is survived by his daughter Connie Johnson and grandson Nicholas who will miss his dearly and will always think of him with the highest regard.
A heartfelt thanks goes to Becky Nickels who was his companion for 4 years, to One Point Hospice and Always Best Care. A private service will be held at Restland Funeral Home and a celebration of his life will be at Briarview Senior Living on Monday August 8th, 2022, at 2:00pm.
