Lawrence Channing Galbraith III's Obituary
Lawrence Channing Galbraith III, born in Dallas, TX living his whole life in North Texas, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, at the age of 87. Born in Dallas on June 12, 1937, Lawrence lived a life rooted in dedication, warmth, and deep connection to his community. As a builder by trait and an accomplished architect, Lawrence led his life with pride and a steadfast sense of duty to his family and community. Early in his career, he focused on designing medical facilities, including the Texas Tech School of Medicine headquarters in Lubbock, Texas, as well as multiple hospitals in El Paso and Amarillo.
Throughout his distinguished career as an architect, Lawrence contributed to the creation and renovation of some of the most iconic buildings in Dallas and Fort Worth. Most notably, he worked on the interior of Momentum Place—also known as the Comerica Bank Tower—the third tallest building in Dallas and the sixth tallest in the state of Texas. His impact extended to the Bass Towers and the Americana Hotel (now the Renaissance Worthington Hotel) in downtown Fort Worth. Lawrence also played a pivotal role in the renovation of Firehouse No. 1, which today serves the community as a yoga studio and public café. His work helped shape communities and lives across the state.
Lawrence was also a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and dedicated much of his time and energy to serving his faith community. He contributed significantly to congregations both in Dallas and East Texas, offering not only his architectural talents but also his hands-on service, leadership, and unwavering faith. His devotion to his church family was a central part of his identity and a reflection of the deep values he carried throughout his life. In his retirement, Lawrence and his beloved wife Nancy settled at Lake Fork, where he spent his days fishing, relaxing on the patio, and watching the deer in the evenings. He cherished the simple joys of life—cutting grass on his lawnmower well into his 80s, and treasuring time with his family. His love for Nancy was boundless, and his affection for his grandchildren immeasurable.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence C. Galbraith Jr.; his mother, Dorthy D. Galbraith; his brother, Ernest E. Galbraith; and his son, Michael J. Elliott.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy E. Galbraith; his children: Sherri L. Morgan (husband Rex Morgan), Lawrence C. Galbraith IV (wife Andrea Galbraith), Caryn E. Schniederjan (husband John Schniederjan), and Joel S. Elliott (wife Sharon Elliott); his siblings: Donald P. Galbraith, Diane Galbraith, and David N. Galbraith. Lawrence is also survived by his grandchildren: Calan R. Morgan (wife Tracy Morgan), Attalie N. Morgan, Micah Y. Morgan (wife Jourdan Morgan), Lauren C. Galbraith, Nicholas D. Galbraith (wife Molly Galbraith), Lucas H. Schniederjan (wife Tiffany Schniederjan), Sarah Monti (husband Jamie Monti), Shane C. Elliott, and Paden M. Elliott; as well as four greatgrandchildren. A graveside memorial service reserved for family only, will be held on May 24, 2025 at Restland funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Boles Children's Home of Quinlan, TX. Lawrence's memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to have known him.
