Lawrence "Larry" J. Piering's Obituary
Larry, 63, was born on June 22, 1954, and died November 23, 2017, surrounded by family. The last days of Larry’s life were spent doing the things he enjoyed – expressing his love for his wife, Kim – loving and being incredibly proud of his son, Jay – talking, singing, joking, and doing impressions with family – visiting with friends whose relationships spanned decades – and being kind and generous to those providing care. Of course, we would have loved more time with him, but we are grateful for every minute he was with us.Larry’s parents, Gil and Edna, provided him with a Catholic education; he was a proud graduate of Jesuit (’72). He graduated from UTA and UTD. Larry overlooked the Yankee pedigree and public school background of Kim and married her in 1977. Their son, Jay, completed Larry’s life and followed as a legacy graduate of Jesuit in 2008.Larry bravely fought and conquered cancer, and courageously endured the aftermath of treatment. He was unfailingly optimistic. His kindness, humor, and wit will stay with us all. He leaves a large, loving, and extended family, and will be welcomed by many loved ones that preceded him in death. The family requests guests on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at 6:00 PM in The Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, followed by a Rosary starting at 7:00 PM in The Abbey Chapel as well. The funeral mass will be held at St. Rita Catholic Church, Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at 12:00.
