Layne Royal Lauck's Obituary
Layne Marie Royal Lauck, 67, went to be with the Lord on June 5, 2023.
Layne was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Dorothy and Lee Ray “Dutch” Royal on June 5, 1956. The oldest of four children, she was a gentle and kind soul. The family of six eventually made their way to Dallas, Texas, and settled in Lake Highlands where they made lifelong friends in the “Guildhall Gang.” Layne went to Lake Highlands High School where she was a member of the Highlandette drill team. Following high school, she went to the University of Texas at Austin where she met the love of her life, Larry, at the Texas State Bar Association, as well as her best friends to this day.
Larry and Layne married in 1981 and returned to Lake Highlands to start their lives together. They were blessed with three children - Craig, Cassie, and Kelley - and enjoyed their days filled with Wallace Elementary PTA meetings (where she was President), lots of laughter, sports games, choir concerts, and wonderful family vacations to the mountains. With the kids now grown, Larry and Layne greatly enjoyed the company of their six grandchildren. Layne was a Sustaining Member of the Lake Highlands Women’s League and a proud member of her friend group, the Baker’s Dozen. Layne had the kindest heart and soul. Even when life handed her trials and tribulations, she relied heavily on her faith, constantly put others before herself, and loved with everything she had. She will be missed beyond measure.
Layne is preceded in death by Dottie and Dutch Royal, and lovingly survived by her husband of 42 years, Larry; son Craig and Katie Lauck; daughter Cassie and Chase Bailey; and daughter Kelley and Shaun Jiou. Furthermore, her memory will always be alive in her grandchildren: June Lauck (7), Kinsley Bailey (5), Bethany Lauck (5), Ryan Jiou (3), Caroline Lauck (2), and Mabry Lauck (6m). Layne is also survived by her three siblings and their spouses: Eric and Beth Royal, Ali and Kevin Miller, and Amy and Randy Durant, as well as nieces and nephews across the country.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests a donation to the American Myalgic Encephalomyelitis and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Society (AMMES) or the Children’s Medical Center Foundation.
Memorial services will be held in the Sanctuary at Highland Park United Methodist Church on June 15 at 1:00 p.m.
