Mrs. Rachael Leah Walker's Obituary
Rachael Ormsby Walker, age 95, passed away on August 25, 2016, in Dallas, Texas. Rachael was born June 30, 1921, in Denison, TX, to Lillian and Ray Ormsby. On July 2, 1941, she and Fayette H. Walker, Jr. (aka “Pop”) of Denison were married. Fayette passed away in 2008. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Walker Caldwell and husband Kent, granddaughters, Ellen Caldwell Barry and husband Brian, and Carolyn Caldwell Wolf and husband Marquette. She is also survived by five great grandchildren, Lukas, Catherine and Cassidy Barry and Ashton and Wyatt Wolf. After several relocations during WWII and a short residence in Madill, OK, she and her family lived for many years in Amarillo where Fayette was a Vice President and Trust Officer at the American National Bank of Amarillo. Rachael enjoyed family cooking, painting, bridge, reading and social clubs as well as many close friends. In 1996 they moved to Dallas to be closer to family. She was affectionately known as “Gigi” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Special thanks go to the wonderful staff at Manchester Place and also Hospice Compassus who cared for her during her last years. She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church in Dallas and the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to St. Rita Catholic Church. Arrangements will be handled by Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas. Services begin on Monday, August 29, 2016, with a rosary at 10:30 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM.
