Lee Clifton Dearing's Obituary
DEARING, LEE CLIFTON born September 26, 1926 in Dallas, TX to William H. Dearing and Mary A. McArthur. Cliff died July 16, 2013. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High in 1945. During his school years at Woodrow, Cliff played football, basketball, baseball and established several records that stood for a number of years thereafter. He also received the award for All-Around State Athlete while at Woodrow. After graduation, he played semi-pro softball in Dallas and was also a member of the Amateur Ice Hockey team. His athletic career was interrupted when he was drafted by the U.S. Army during WWII. After being honorably discharged from the military he worked as a brick mason for forty plus years. He continued to be active in sports and served as a goal-net judge for the Dallas Stars and D&L Entertainment for 20 plus years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Agnes Dearing and William H. Dearing; two brothers, Ollie and Bobby Dearing and one sister, Margie Long. Cliff is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rosemary Shoemaker Dearing; three daughters, Pam Lacey of San Antonio, Kellie Burkhart and Richard of Caddo Mills and Kendell Dearing of Dallas; one son, Rodney Dearing and wife, Jennifer of Rockwall; one sister, Ruby (Penny) Lewis of Dallas; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, who will miss their “pappa”. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, July 22, 2013 at Restland Wildwood Chapel with visitation 1 hour prior to the service.
