Lee Yung's Obituary
Lee Yung, a long-time resident of Richardson, TX, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 28, 2021 at the age of 93.
Lee was born on July 25, 1927, in Qingdao, China, and served in the Chinese Navy. Lee moved to Taiwan in 1949, where he later met and married his wife, Kimmy. In 1967, he immigrated to America and worked in the restaurant industry. In 1976, Lee became the chef and owner of Happy Buddha, the first Chinese restaurant in Richardson, Texas.
In addition to operating a successful family business for 15 years, his greatest legacy was raising a loving family, and his greatest joy was spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren. He is remembered by his grandchildren for his love of animals -- feeding pets many treats, his tinkering talents -- fixing household items, his generosity – giving gifts and taking them to the store for college supplies, and his sense of humor. He was fascinated by cars, trains, and planes and loved Chinese opera. He had an incredible work ethic, often holding multiple jobs and working long hours. Lee demonstrated his love for his family through his hard work and sacrifices.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kimmy Lee of Richardson, three children -- Karyn Lee Kirk and husband Kevin, of San Diego, CA, Lilly Lee Jensby and husband Lloyd of Plano, TX, and Robert Lee and wife Shara of Houston, TX, ten grandchildren -- Ian Kirk, David Kirk, Nathan and Ginny Jensby, Michal Jensby and Ben Smith, Erin Jensby, Ryan Lee, Garrett Lee, Olivia Lee, Spencer Lee and Peyton Lee, and one great-grandchild -- Griffin Jensby.
A private, family service will be held to honor his life.
