Leigh Ann Hawthorne's Obituary
Hawthorne, Leigh Ann Leigh Ann Mayo-Hawthorne on Monday, November 15, next to loved ones in Dallas, Texas, Leigh Ann Mayo-Hawthorne went to live in peace with her Lord and Savior. Leigh Ann lived 49 beautiful years with the joy, hope and love that flowed abundantly through her faith in Christ and the power of the gospel she believed and shared. Leigh Ann was born May 25, 1961, in Dallas, Texas to William Lee Mayo and Delle Fagan-Mayo. She graduated Trinity Christian Academy in 1979 and received her bachelor’s degree in 1983 from the University of Oklahoma, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was also a member of Junior League of Dallas. Leigh Ann deeply loved her children and took great care in raising them up in the love of Christ. She loved nothing more than to be with her friends and family. She loved to laugh, sing, travel and scuba dive. She enjoyed Bible-study classes and attended Lake Hills Church in Austin. She never met a stranger and never forgot a friend. Her smile was contagious and her spirit sweet. Her faith and endurance will be an ongoing inspiration to many. Leigh Ann is preceded in death by her father, Bill Mayo, of Dallas, Texas. Her blessed survivors include her mother, Delle Mayo, of Dallas; her children, Ashleigh and Mayo Whaley, of Austin; husband Hal Hawthorne and his children, Wright, Marshall and Haley Hawthorne, of Austin; brother Michael Estes Mayo and wife, Barbara, and nephews Joshua and Hunter Mayo, of Coppell, Texas; aunt Ann Mayo-Shands, of Lufkin, Texas; uncle Calvin Fagan and wife, Joan, of Sinton, Texas; and cousins, H.J. Shands III, and wife, Susie, of Lufkin, Texas; Becky Shands-Getter and husband, Kerry, of Bastrop, Texas; Gary Fagan and wife, Elizabeth, of Sinton, Texas; Brenda Gayl Mullinix and husband, Mark, of Sugar Land, Texas. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 2010 Grace Bible Church with Dr. Andy Wileman officiating. Reception to follow at Northwood Club. Family will receive friends Wednesday, November 17, 2010 from 6pm-8pm at Restland Funeral Home.
