Leland Earl Stenton's Obituary
Leland Stenton, 86, passed away at his home in Dallas on August 26, 2014, after a battle with cancer. He was born on January 15, 1928, in Bad Axe, Michigan. Lee was a World War II veteran, serving as a medic on the Army hospital ship USS Hope. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1951. He obtained his CPA certification and practiced in Detroit and Bad Axe, where he had his own accounting practice. In 1958, he joined the FBI as a special agent accountant and was assigned to the Dallas Office, where he met his wife, Judy; and he was later transferred to the New York Office. In 1961 he began his banking career of over 25 years, including the opening of two banks. He later had his own consulting and auditing business until his retirement in December 2013, after 62 years of various career paths. Lee was an avid golfer and for several years volunteered at the Byron Nelson Golf Tournament, assisting with security as a member of the Dallas Chapter of Former FBI Agents. He was a member of the Former FBI Agents Association for 50 years, and a member of the Texas Reelers Square & Round Dance Club for 23 years, enjoying countless hours of fun, fellowship, exercise and great friendships. Lee is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Margaret Stenton; his two brothers, Harold and Wallace; and niece, Amanda Lynn May. He is survived by Judy, his wife of 54 years; daughter, Shari Caldo and husband, Jim of Plano; son, Steven of Austin; grandson, Daniel Harrison and wife, Becky of Atlanta, Texas; granddaughter, Emily Staggs and husband, Alex of Plano; great-grandson, Kenneth Harrison; and great-granddaughter, Elana Staggs; brother-in-law, Jim May and wife, Sherry of Alba, Texas; sister-in-law, Janie Nunis of Liberty Hill, Texas; nephews, John Stenton of Marquette, Michigan and Kelly Nunis of Leander, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, August 29, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
