Lelia ( Lee ) M. Cole's Obituary
Lelia (Lee) M. Cole, 90, of Richardson, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025.
Born on February 25, 1934, Lee lived a life filled with creativity, warmth, and dedication to family and community. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard L. Cole, who passed in 1979, as well as her brothers, Paul V. Greenwade and Don S. Greenwade.
Lee is survived by her loving daughter, Laura Jensen of Winter Park, FL, and her cherished grandchildren (who knew her as Grand Lee): Richard Cole Rice, Erin Rice Hutto (K.C.), Robert Jensen, and David Jensen. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Miles Hutto and Walker Hutto, who brought her much joy. Lee’s family extended to her nephews, P. Rowland Greenwade (Karen), Stephen Greenwade (Rebecca), and Geoff Greenwade (Ronda), along with a multitude of grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and cousins galore.
Lee spent much of her career working in retail, but her passions truly defined her life. A gifted calligrapher, she had an artist’s touch and a love for beautifully crafted letters. She was also a creative and intuitive cook, known for writing recipes and hosting gatherings that brought people together. Entertaining was a lifelong joy for Lee, and she welcomed friends and family with warmth and generosity. She was an active member of the Community Christian Church in Richardson, Texas, where she found faith, fellowship, and purpose.
A private funeral service will be held for family members. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity or religious institution of one’s choice in Lee’s memory.
Lee’s legacy is one of love, creativity, and connection—she will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
