Lelia Ellen McNeely Davis' Obituary
Born on January 12, 1931, in Dallas, Texas, to Elsie Lee Douglas and John Lewis McNeely, Lelia Ellen McNeely Davis entered eternal rest on July 17, 2025, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents Elsie and John McNeely, husband Nelson (Red) Davis Jr., and her brother Douglas McNeely. Lelia lived a life defined by faith, kindness, and service. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, she touched countless lives through her generosity and fun-loving spirit. She enjoyed a long and successful career as an auditor for the Federal Reserve Bank. Her passions included family and family gatherings, genealogy, traveling, friends and her church community, all of which brought her great joy. Lelia was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Plano, where she served in various Bible study classes, led Sunday school, and participated actively in the prayer circle. Her daily walk with the Lord was the foundation of her life. She leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of her children: Tracye Benedict and Cole Davis; grandchildren: Neelye Anderson and husband Tommy Anderson, and Anthony Benedict; great-grandchildren: Jacob Davis-Harbin, Colton Harbin, Dakota Anderson, and Kaleigh Anderson; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, Lelia’s legacy of love, wisdom, and grace will live on in all who were blessed to know her. Her life was a testimony of hope and strength—and today, we celebrate her journey home
