Lemuel Lee "Clem" Barton's Obituary
Lem went to be with our Lord & Savior on October 7, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 83 years old. Preceded in death by his son Rodger Lee Barton. Survived by his wife of 60 years Helen Callie Barton, his daughter Carol Johnson, his grandchildren Chris Johnson, Erin Molina, & Michael Harmon, great grandchildren Daniel Harmon & Charlotte Molina, 2 sisters Barbara Mathia, Dorothy Bays and many friends. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri July 16, 1931. Lem grew up in Salina, Oklahoma where he was raised by his aunt and uncle after his parents were tragically killed by a train when he was 10 years old. He served in the U.S. Army where he was a supply sergeant in the Korean War. After returning home from the service he was hired by AT&T for a job in Dallas, Texas where worked until he retired. Lem has lived in Mesquite, Texas for 58 years. He loved writing poems and woodworking. He also enjoyed repairing things big or small. As Lem would say, he was a jack of all trades and a master of none. It was fascinating hearing his stories, whether from when he was in the service or his many other adventures. He will be forever in our hearts. The visitation for Lemuel will be on Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 6:00-8:00pm at Restland Funeral Home.
