Lena Mae Pouncy's Obituary
Lena Mae Bradford-Pouncy was born on May 9, 1943, to the late Georgia Lee Bradford in Glimer, Texas. She attended Bruce Schools. She met and married Jetty T. Pouncy in 1961. In 1962, they moved, with their son, Victor G. Pouncy, to Emeryville, California. Working for thirty-four years at Safeway Stores, Inc., she retired, and they moved back to Texas.
Lena accepted Christ at an early age in Gilmer, Texas, at Mount Gilead Baptist Church under Reverend Clyde Shepard. In Oakland, California, Lena attended Humanity Missionary Baptist Church. She was active in Sunday School, Mission and Senior Ministries. Returning to Texas, Lena joined First Baptist Church of Hamilton Park. There, she was active in Sunday School, Mission and Women Ministries.
Leane leaves to mourn, her granddaughters Victoria Pouncy and Kayla Pouncy (and family). Lena will be missed by her brothers, Harold Bradford (wife Magaret), Richard Bradford, and sister Ruth Hill. Lena enjoyed cooking large meals, and these meals were enjoyed by many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
