Leo Marcel Files' Obituary
Leo Marcel Files (1923 – 2015) Leo Marcel Files went to be with the Lord Friday morning, September 25, 2015, at the age of 92. Marcel was born in Duster, Texas, on February 15, 1923. He was the youngest of ten children born to Frank Files and Jennie Couch. He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life Faye Thompson on September 19, 1942. Marcel served in World War II in the 97th Infantry in both Europe and Japan. Upon returning from the service, he joined Lone Star Gas Company, where he worked for thirty-nine years before retiring in 1988 as Director of Contract Administration. He founded and was president of a north Texas gas association and was also active in the Petroleum Club and Engineers Club. Marcel was a wonderful loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was interested in his daughters’ activities and attended their school and church programs and piano recitals. He loved playing games and vacationing with the family. His hobbies included wood-working and outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and gardening. Marcel’s commitment to the Lord was exemplified by his decades of service at Northway Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and fourth grade Sunday school teacher. In his later years, he worshipped at First Baptist Church of Fanners Branch. Survivors: Faye, his loving wife of 73 years; daughters and sons-in-law Linda and Sarfaraz Nazir of Mansfield, Texas, and June and Gary Browne of McKinney, Texas; four grandchildren Nafisa and husband Trevor Morris of Murchison, Texas, Shahzad Nazir of Arlington, Texas, Shazia and husband William Lackey of Arlington, Texas, and Grant Browne of Arlington, Texas; six great- grandchildren Kylor, Cole, Lane, and Cana Morris and Cooper and Emmett Lackey; numerous nieces and nephews including Sandra and husband David Joiner, Jim and wife Marty Thompson, Marilyn and husband John Rollins, and Frank and wife Joanne Files. Services: Restland of Dallas Visitation: Sunday, September 27,2015,4:00 pm – 6:00 pm Service: Monday, September 28,2015,10:00 am – Wildwood Chapel In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or First Baptist Church of Farmers Branch. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
