Mrs. Steindam was a delightful person as well as a good neighbor, always cheerful even during her health problems. I am very glad I got to know her and will always remember our visits about gardening over the years.
My Mom & step-father were good friends with LeOma & Albert for many years (living down the street in Renner & across the road in Terrell). I always enjoyed being around them, hearing their stories & just visiting. I will always be grateful to LeOma for running to my rescue when I was staying with my Mom & she had a stroke in the wee hours of the morning. I was alone with her & so scared, so I called LeOma & she raced over until the ambulance could get there. I threw my arms around her & hugged her tight because the whole thing was just so upsetting! LeOma was so ressuring & calmed me down so I could think straight. I will always love her for that & told her on other occasions how much it meant to me to have her come to my rescue!
Jane and Charles, Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. I know Mrs. Steindam is in a better place and has joined some loved ones in heaven. Dianna Clement

What is the true meaning of family? Webster's defines it as any group of persons closely related by blood or all those persons considered to be descendants of a common person. One final definition offered by Webster's more closely describes how the Madons became part of leOma and Albert Steindam's family – a group of people who are generally not blood relations, but who share common attitudes, interest, goals or faith and frequently live together. While we never lived together, we spent many special times in the home of LeOma and Albert Steindam. We, really Linda made the mistake of telling our son, Chris, when Albert passed away, that we were technically not related. Chris quickly set us straight by letting us know that we absolutely were related to the Steindams and to never say that we were not. And so it has been for at least 35 and a half years that LeOma Steindam has been part of our family despite the fact that we do not share a drop of blood. LeOma and Albert have been like a third set of grandparents to our children, Chris and Melanie through the years. Thanksgiving and Easter were special holidays that we seemed to spend at the Steindam's home more than any other place. There was always regular dressing plus the special Oyster dressing. No one will ever forget the Thanksgiving when we must have had a pie for just about every person that was present, there were 15 of us. In the last several years, when the holidays moved to our house or Charles and Hane's, LeOma wa always asked to bring her special mashed potatoes. Chris and Melanie have already vowed to carry on LeOma's mashed potato tradition. Easter was a time for egg hunts in the Steindam's big backyard. The plastic eggs filled with chocolates became quite popular over the years. As Craig, Chris and Melanie all got older the Steindam's backyrd turned into a place for many baseball games on Sunday afternoons. LeOma was an independent lady with her own opinions on most every topic, expecially the end times and politics.Oh, the discussions that were had on these subjects over the years. I believe some in the "family" liked to make statements just to get LeOma started. Who doesn't love a great family discussion?! LeOma was a strong believer who kew her Bible. She studied and read her Bible faithfully. She was well equipped and always willing to share her faith with others. It has been an honor and priviledge to be "family" with this dear lady. We rest assured today in the knowledge that she is now at home celebrating and praising God with her eternal family.
