Leona Emily Jackson's Obituary
Leona Emily Jackson, of Garland, Texas, was born on April 9, 1929, to Gustav Gottleib and Mary Lydia (Weissinger) Richter, in Gerald, Texas. She passed away on April 15, 2024, at the age of 95.
Leona married Charles M. Jackson on April 1, 1951, in Gerald. They moved to Garland in 1955 and lived in only one house following that move. Leona continued to reside there until her passing.
Leona loved cooking and baking. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling. Leona also loved spending time with her grandkids, sewing and quilting, visiting family, the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Mavericks. Her sons remember their mother always supporting their activities in their growing up years.
Leona is preceded in death by: her husband, Charles; her parents; her brothers, Roland Richter, Jerry Richter and Harlan Richter; and her sisters Lora Mae Uptmor and Rose Marie Richter.
She is loved and remembered by: her sons, Charles M. Jackson, Jr. and Randall K. Jackson and his wife, Stacey; her grandchildren Brian Jackson and his wife Galine, Brandi Jackson and her wife Lisa, Victoria Jackson and Ashley Jackson-Ivey and her husband Micah; her great-grandchildren Atticus Castaneda, Parker Castaneda, Levi Jackson, Lola Jackson and Emily Ivey; and her brothers Garlan Richter, Hershel Richter and Larry Richter.
Leona’s life and legacy will be celebrated at 2:00PM on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Memorial Park. Celebrant will be Mark Wingfield. Interment in Restland Memorial Park will follow. Juan Tamez, Tommy Davis, Darvin Grade, Larry Richter, Jr., Scott Smith, Tim Hancock, Randy Smith and Lee New will serve as pallbearers.
