Leonard Dale Hall's Obituary
Dr. Leonard Dale Hall, age 90, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022, in McKinney, Texas. He was born to Mr. Claude Delmas Hall and Ms. Lena Pleasant Collins on Sunday, October 4, 1932, near Agnos, Arkansas. At an early age, the family moved to California, returning to Searcy, Arkansas where Leonard graduated from high school at Harding Academy, and college at Harding College, where he completed a B.A. in Education. During the summers, Leonard and his twin Lehman, worked in Alaska, sharing many stories of their adventures and inspiring family and friends to visit and experience its beauty. While teaching at Houston Christian Schools, he met and married Bonnie Belle Shaw in May of 1956. A believer in the importance of education, he pursued and completed a Masters degree at University of Houston and Ed. D. at University of Oklahoma. Supporting his work in school administration and coaching, the family lived in Texas, Oklahoma, Idaho, Arizona, Colorado and Wyoming. After retirement, he became partners in business with his oldest son, DeWayne for 32 years and returned to Oklahoma. He also served as interim Superintendent of schools for several districts and the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Bonnie Bell, parents Claude and Pleasant, brothers Elmo and Lehman, and sister Imo.
He is survived by Bonnie Lynn of McKinney, DeWayne and wife Beth of Aledo, TX, David and his wife Suzette of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Justin and wife Krystal of Ft. Worth, TX, Drew and wife Stephanie of Houston, TX, Brent Roe-Hall and wife Sarah Roe-Hall of Nashville, TN, and Ashley of Memphis, TN; two great grandchildren, Parker and Charlotte; his brother Richard and wife Tuell Ann of Ft. Worth, TX, sister-in-law Robyn of Murfreesboro, TN, brother-in-laws Ossie (Boy) Shaw and wife Genie of Humble, TX, Jerald Shaw and wife Shannon of Spring, TX, and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
For those wishing to make a donation in Leonard’s memory, the family requests that Mountain States Children’s Home of Longmont, Colorado be considered.
