I had the truly great fortune to meet both Leonard and Lena Ruth a few years ago. Though it wasn’t very long, I will always cherish the time and memory of their obvious Love for each other and their open and warm concern for others. I regret that I did not take full advantage of the opportunity to spend time with them, however the example of the special bond between 2 people who love one another and the twinkle in their eyes when they spoke of each other is an inspiration I will carry for the rest of my life and a guide for how to treat my Bride.Leonard, as a Mason, was and should remain an outstanding example of what Masonry is about and how Masons should act. He was unpretentious about the many accomplishments and awards he received, listened to others and offered advise and the occasional (in my case at least) gentle reminder of the conduct expected of another Brother. He didn’t object to a different view or opinion as long as the person having it had thought it out before speaking out — I honestly believe he enjoyed the give and take of a spirited discussion. He insisted I call him Leonard and was kind in shaking my hand in friendship; both honors I will always appreciate. Both Lena Ruth and Leonard offered an open hand and deeply enjoyed helping others. What greater tribute can be said about a person? I have mentioned both Lena Ruth and Leonard in this entry because they are together now and what I would say about Leonard, I would also say about Lena Ruth so I think it is right to speak of both at this time. Again, what a tribute!May the Supreme Architect bless the families, friends and those who loved these “simple folks”, and more especially, the two of them.Rest Well and Enjoy Being Together Again!
