Leonard Dixon McCumber 's Obituary
Leonard Dixon McCumber of Dallas Texas died on May 13, 2020. He was
was born May 21, 1927 in Malden, MA to Kenneth McCumber and Maude
(Getchell) McCumber. He married Barbara (Fowler) McCumber on March
2, 1946 in Braintree, MA. They lived in various locations in New England
plus Naperville, IL and Princeton Junction, NJ prior to moving to Dallas, TX
in 1981.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 loving years, Barbara (Fowler)
McCumber. He is survived by his three children, Leonard Dixon
McCumber, Jr., Barbara Lee McCumber, and David John McCumber; his
four grandchildren, Stacey Hammack, Michael McCumber, Murae
McCumber and Ryan McCumber; his two great-grand children, Jackson
Hammack and Austin Hammack. He is also survived by his two daughterin-laws, Ruth McCumber and Kelli McCumber; his grand son-in-law, Scott
Hammack.
Along with being a wonderful husband, father and friend, he was a superb
salesman and executive who develop a large number of subordinates into
extremely successful industry executives. He also was the lead inventor of
the triple layered laminate shingle for which US Patent No. 6,933,037 B2
was issued.
Leonard McCumber will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for charitable donations be given to the
SPCA of Dallas or a charity of their choice in Leonard McCumber’s name.
Given the existing coronavirus environment, there will be no celebration of
Life Service as was done with his wife.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home
and Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. Restland
