Leonard Phillip (Phil) Rolen's Obituary
Leonard Phillip (Phil) Rolen, born October 22, 1945 – died March 28, 2018. He was born in Dallas, the fourth child of Leonard Odell and Mattie Maude (Claiborne) Rolen. He grew up in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas with brothers Charles and Timothy and sisters Mary and Judy. He attended South Oak Cliff High SchoolIn 1962, he married Doris Allen. They had two sons, Phillip, Jr. and Preston. In 1992, he married Linda Smith.Phil had various careers from construction, servicing jukeboxes and video games, and hardwood floor installation. Finally, Phil and Linda owned a rare coin shop. This was the probably the happiest time of Phil’s life.He is survived by his wife, Linda, his son Preston, a sister, Judy and a brother, Timothy and his wife Peggy, stepchildren Blair Smith, Mac Smith, Pam Allen, and grandchildren Christian Smith and Lindee Ellison. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, brother Charles, sister Mary, and son Phillip, Jr.There will be a Visitation on Friday, April 6 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 7 at 11:00 AM at Cochran Chapel United Methodist Church, 9027 Midway Rd., Dallas, TX, Rev. Dr. Jeff Hall, presiding. There will be a reception following at the church. Interment will be a private service in Sherman, TX.Phil will be wearing pink so feel free to do the same.In lieu of flowers, please donate to Dallas Area Parkinsonism Society.
