Captain Leonard Leroy Schoelkopf, 57, entered eternal rest on Friday, February 26, 2016, with his family by his side in Dallas, Texas. He was born on December 2, 1958 in San Bernardino, California to Larry Schoelkopf and Janet Golden. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he was first stationed at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, California. He became an airplane maintenance officer in the reserves, and was honorably discharged. He graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and received an MBA from Southern Methodist University, and enjoyed a rich career in business culminating as the CEO of Avalon Language Services in Dallas, where he and his wife, Leticia, raised their children. With a true zest for life, his interests included reading, technology, wine, music, Dallas Cowboys football, and enjoying time spent with his many family and friends, especially his beloved goddaughters. He was particularly proud to plan and celebrate his daughter Lorien’s recent wedding in October, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Leticia; daughter Lorien Schoelkopf Herman; son Leonard Schoelkopf Jr.; father Larry Schoelkopf; stepmother Barbara Schoelkopf; and sisters Sharon Madden, Sandra Schoelkopf, Kimla Bolt, and Samantha Stevens. The funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 11 AM at All Saints Catholic Church in Dallas, followed by burial with military honors at Restland Cemetery Park. Memorial donations may be made to the Baylor Health Care System Foundation. Leonard and his family were very passionate about organ donation, and ask that family or friends who are not already organ donors contact their state donor registry to inquire about becoming a donor. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
