Leonette Elizabeth Rogers' Obituary
Leonette (Lyn) Henley Rogers passed away on June 26, 2009 in Ft. Worth, TX after a courageous battle with throat cancer. She was born on November 19, 1950 in Jackson, MS. She was a long time resident of Richardson, TX. She is preceded in death by her mother, Lydy Caldwell; father, Charles Boyce Henley; step-father, Eugene Caldwell; and nephew, Craig Geno, Jr., all of Jackson, MS. She is survived by her loving husband, Paul D. Rogers, Jr.; and son, Charles Gilliam, both of Richardson, TX; and step-daughter, Amanda (John) Gross; grandchildren, Jonathan Kingsley III, Holly, and Sophia Gross of Alvin, TX; sisters, CC (Mark Earles) Henley and Kayo (Clay) Skyes both of Jackson, MS, and Beth Henley of Los Angeles, CA; sisters-in-law, Deborah (James) Kidwell of Seabrook, TX and Julie (John) Stuckey of Friendswood, TX; brothers-in-law Richard (Susan) Rogers of Katy, TX and Daniel Gonzalez of Houston, TX. Also, nieces and nephews Charlotte Geno of Jackson, MS, Patrick Henley of Los Angeles, CA, Chris (Jennifer) Kidwell of League City, TX, Kristina (Tony) Hearn of Seabrook, TX, Kathryn (John) Hindman of Pearland, TX, Lisa (Ben) Shapiro of Longmont, CO, Micah Rogers, Natalie (Warner) Ellison and Alyssa Wendt of Katy, TX, Amy Stuckey of Webster, TX, and Keith Stuckey of Friendswood, TX. Leonette spent her childhood in Jackson, MS, and graduated from Murrah High School, continuing her education at Stephens College at Columbia, MO, and earning a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Texas, Austin. She was a member of the Junior League of Jackson, MS and the Mississippi Debutante Association. She studied acting in the Film Actors Lab with Adam Roarke, and Acting Workshops with Cliff Osmond, Ken Barry, Bob Nigro, and Harvey Lewis. Lyn starred in Dallas/Ft. Worth stage plays Tobacco Road, Ladies at the Alamo, California Suite, Waiting Room, Tribute, Taming of the Shrew, and The Pink Panther Strikes Back, as well as various roles in film and television. Leonette was a devoted mom, wife, sister and was an avid reader. She loved horseback riding and she was especially involved in drug and alcohol recovery in her community. The family would like to thank Charlie, Lyn’s son for his support and helpfulness during her illness. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 1, 2009 in Restland’s Memorial Chapel, with burial to follow in Restland Memorial Park.
