Mr. Leslie Samuel Walker's Obituary
Leslie Walker, affectionately known to his family as “Flu
Jack”, peacefully departed his earthly life on January
12, 2021 at Medical City Hospital in Plano, TX. After a
lengthy illness, God called him to rest. He was born on
March 6, 1945 in Goldsboro, NC to the late James and
Nellie A. Walker. Leslie was educated in the Charleston
County Public School System and graduated From
Bonds Wilson High School in 1963. Upon graduation he
joined the United States Marines and served two tours
of duty in Vietnam. Leslie served 10 years in the Marines
before becoming a police officer at the Naval Base in
Charleston, SC.
He married the love of his life, Ruth Davis Walker,
whom he affectionately called his “Baby” in 1964. To
this union a daughter (Kelly) and Son (Jiriel) were born.
Leslie loved the Lord and in 1974 he attended Baptist
College in Summerville, SC and became co-Pastor at
Promiseland Missionary Church in Charleston, SC. In
1980 Leslie and Ruth relocated to Dallas, TX where he
was employed with Ingersoll Rand until 1985. Later he
started his own business, High Tech Recovery , which
he operated until 2011 when his health begin to decline.
Leslie will be remembered as a truly kind and generous
person who loved people and was always willing to
lend a helping hand where needed. He was a loving
husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Most of all, he was a child of God, who at an early
age confessed his sins and accepted Jesus Christ as his
personal savior. Leslie was a member of First Baptist
Church in Richardson, TX. He was preceded in death
by his mother, father and two sisters, Rose “Poochie”
and Wihelmina. Leslie leaves to cherish his memory, his
loving wife, Ruth; daughter, Kelly Ann; Son, Jiriel Leslie
James; grandchildren, Shaquan Bivens and Destiny
Walker; a special niece, Wenifred Philips; two nephews,
Lavelle Frasier and Angelo Frasier; 3 brother-in-laws, 4
sister-in-laws and a host of cousins and friends.
