HENDERSON, LETHA MAE was born on March 6, 1927 in Teague, Texas and passed away October 3, 2010 in Dallas, Texas. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Hamilton Park United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 6:00PM – 8:00PM, Friday at Restland Funeral Home.Letha Mae Burleson was born on March 6, 1927 in Teague, Texas (Freestone County) to the parentage of Jimmy Burleson, Sr. and Eliza Burleson. She passed away on October 3, 2010. Letha began her school years at Avant in Teague, Texas and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas. She went on to study and graduate from Huston Tillotson College in Austin, Texas with a degree in Education. Letha also earned her Master’s degree in Education from Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas. She was a life member of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club, Inc. (Metropolitan Chapter). During her tenure with the club, she served in many roles, including 1st Vice President and Youth Director. She was also the recipient of the Woman of the Year award. A member of Hamilton Park United Methodist Church, Letha was a servant in her church and community. She shared her passion for helping others through volunteering with American Red Cross. Letha married Sidney Clarence Henderson, Sr., and two children were born to this union: Mishon Henderson Blaylock and Sidney Henderson, Jr. Letha was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Mishael L. Blaylock and her brothers, Jimmy Burleson, Jr. and Godfrey “Uncle Paper” Burleson. She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Mishon Henderson Blaylock; son, Sidney Clarence Blaylock, Jr.; grandchildren: Quitra Blaylock, Clarence Blaylock, Jr., Sidney Daniels, Santreal Henderson, Dustin Henderson, Courtney Henderson, Shaquita Henderson, Anthony Johnson, and Sidney Clarence Henderson, III; six great-granddaughters; brothers, Hiram (Brunette) Burleson and Kenneth (Florene) Burleson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
