Levi "Gordon" Alford's Obituary
ALFORD, LEVI “GORDON” was born October 24, 1921. Passed away August 2, 2014 in Plano, Texas. Gordon was proud to have served in General George Patton’s 3rd Army during WWII. He served in Normandy, Bastone, Sainte-Mere- Eglise, etc. He drove the Red Ball Express delivering gas and supplies to the front lines. Gordon was born in Pickton, Texas, to Effie Keith & Andrew Jackson Alford. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 71 years, Jimmie and 12 siblings. After marrying, Gordon & Jimmie made their home in Dallas. They retired to Winnsboro, Texas where they were active with Meals on Wheels and driving seniors to church on the Golden Chariot bus. Later they moved back to Dallas to be near family. In the last years of their lives, they moved to Plano. Gordon leaves to mourn his legacy, his son, Richard and his wife Evelyn of Garland, grandsons Gary and his wife Michelle of Arlington and Mike and his wife Annie of Dallas along with two great-grandchildren. He left his sister, Dutch Arnold of Sulphur Springs and scores of nephews, nieces, and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 5 from 6 – 8 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:30 PM, Wednesday, August 6 at Restland Memorial Chapel. Interment with a military tribute will immediately follow in the Veterans Garden II at Restland.
