Lewis Shannon Ator Jr.'s Obituary
ATOR, LEWIS SHANNON, JR. (‘Butch’ or ‘Lew’ to most) Lew passed away on November 17, 2007 in Brownwood, Texas. He was 62 years old. Born on September 22, 1945 in Fall River, Massachusetts to Irene & Lewis Ator, Sr. He moved with his family to Odessa, Texas in his early years. There he completed his schooling and was employed at Wells Machine Shop. He loved to cook and for a number of years managed Village Inn Pizza Parlors and Kip’s Big Boy Restaurant. He later moved to Saudi Arabia and worked for Halliburton for approximately 10 years in the Middle East. Upon retirement, he moved to Denton, Texas where he resided with his dad. They later moved to Brownwood, Texas to be near the lake, friends and relatives. There he managed The Skillet Restaurant for a number of years. Approximately 8 years ago his health began to deteriorate and he was forced to retire. In spite of all his daily challenges, he made the best of each day. He never met a stranger, was known by all. He loved children and dogs, was an outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. Lew was a very giving and caring person to everyone he met. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Lew is survived by a sister, Cynthia Jordan and a brother, Ronald Ator and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday, November 23, 2007 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Restland Abbey Chapel in Dallas, Texas on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 1:00 PM.
