Lewis Henry Drake's Obituary
Lewis H. Drake was born the ninth child out of eleven children to the late Raymond and Lettie (Hughley) Drake, on August 13, 1935. He joined the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and was baptized under the late Rev. L.H. Harper. He graduated from Plano Colored High School and joined the Army where he served for four years. After completing his service in the Army, Lewis moved to Los Angeles, CA, where he worked for the Los Angeles School District as a facilities Manager until his retirement in 1995. He found and married his childhood sweet heart, Dorothy J. Holmes in 1972. They moved back home to Plano, TX in 1996, after his retirement. Lewis Loved football, basketball, golf and music. He loved to tease his great nephews and tell them that he “was in charge”. He is preceded in death by his son, Lewis H. Drake Jr., his parents, Raymond & Lettie Drake, three brothers and five sisters. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Dorothy J. Drake, his God Daughter, Erika Childs of Inglewood, CA. (2) Sisters, Ora Mae Taylor of Los Angeles, CA and Wanda J. Pier of Plano, TX. (3) Brothers-in-Law; Oliver Holmes(Leslie) of Mexia, TX, Thomas Garvin of Inglewood, CA and Clarence Williams of Dallas, TX. (1) Sister-in-Law, Hazel Holmes of Plano, TX. A special cousin, Patsy Drake of Plano, TX, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and Church family. The visitation for Lewis Drake will be from 7:00 to 8:30 PM Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. The service for Lewis will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
