" ... That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9 NKJ
Lewis Bentley Gorman of Garland, Texas, age of 78, passed away at his home on Saturday, November 12, 2022.
Lewis was born September 15, 1944, in Italy, Texas. He was the third of four brothers born to Wilmer and Ina Gorman. He was raised in the rural community of Rankin where he attended grade schools of Rankin and Byrd-Rankin, later attending school in Ennis and graduating from Ennis High School where he excelled in football and academics.
After graduation, Lewis attended North Texas State University prior to launching a highly successful career in the automobile industry, managing several major dealerships in Dallas and later in Shreveport., LA. While in college, Lewis married Mary Galbraith of Ennis, the beginning of a life-long love affair that never ended.
Although Lewis and Mary and their family encountered many sicknesses and losses, including the loss of their dearly loved son, Clay, Lewis and Mary answered every event with hope and thankfulness for the provisions of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Lewis maintained his bright spirit and outgoing encouragement to all who knew him throughout his life. He had a great sense of humor, a cheerful smile and an unshakable calm demeanor in all circumstances. In his early years Lewis enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing in the Chambers Creek swimming hole. Later in life, he enjoyed golf and played with skill. Lewis's greatest joy was, however, spending time with his family and talking with his many friends from high school and beyond.
Lewis is survived by his daughters, Gretchen and Ginger, grandsons Alex and Brandon, granddaughters Ashley and Alyssa, great grandson Ryder Clay, his brother Sam and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents Wilmer and Ina, his wife Mary, his son Clay, and his brothers Lee Van and Larry Ross Gorman.
