Lewis Prince Jr.'s Obituary
PRINCE JR., LEWIS GENTRY passed from this life to eternal life on May 23, 2014 following a lengthy illness. He was at home, surrounded by family. Lewis was born June 21, 1936 in Greenville, South Carolina to Lewis G. Prince, Sr. and Lucia Smith Prince. He grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and attended the University of Tulsa as a business major, began managerial training with J.C. Penney and married Carolyn Peeples in 1958. After being transferred to Texas and then Dallas, he joined a clothing manufacturer, and eventually opened his own company, Prince Fashions. His last company, returning to retail, was Special Occasion Dresses. He retired in 2007. Lewis and his family joined Prestonwood Baptist Church in its early days, and he served on four building committees, two times as chairman, for the quickly expanding church. Lewis is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn and three children. His sons are Brett Gentry Prince and his wife Lisa and three children, Schaefer, Rylie and Dodge; and Robert Lewis Prince and his wife, Stacy and daughters, Emmaline and Madeline. Lewis’ daughter is Dana McGlothlin and her husband, Scott and son, Henry. Lewis is also survived by his brother, C.D. Prince and wife, Lynnette and sister, Beth Maloney and husband, Ralph. Also, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Lewis was predeceased by an infant son, David Dee Prince. A service will be held at Faith Chapel at Prestonwood Baptist Church, 6801 West Park in Plano, at 11:00AM, Thursday, May 29. A private family graveside service will be held later at Restland.
