Lillian Mae Clower's Obituary
CLOWER, LILLIAN VICKERS (“MawMaw”) 90, passed away May 29, 2011, in Sherman, Texas. Lillian was born, July 18, 1920, in Buckner, Arkansas. She married Argus Eugene Clower, Jr. in September of 1937. Their first son, Richard was born in December of ’38 and their other son, Ronald was born in October of ’40. They lived in Arkansas briefly and moved to Texarkana when the boys were school-aged. “Lil” and “AE” raised their boys for most of their school years in Texarkana and then eventually moved to Garland, Texas, where their youngest, Ron finished school. Lillian was a home-maker for a brief time and then she worked at Mustang Re-builders for many years. Argus was a world class insurance salesman for American National for many years as well. Lil and AE traveled the world through various American National functions, galas and soirees. Lil and AE both went to work at the US Treasury Department in Dallas, Texas after their first retirements. Lil and AE also became “MawMaw” and “PawPaw” to grandchildren and great grandchildren. MawMaw and PawPaw loved traveling, going “RV-ing” in the Airstream, and even kicking their heels up in their square dancing clubs. Lil also loved to read and play bridge and AE loved to nap and watch the Dallas Cowboys. After AE’s passing in 1997, Lillian retired from the US Treasury Department in 1999 and moved with her son Richard and great granddaughter, Tiffany to Honey Grove. Lillian was the “rock” of the Clower family and loved by all who ever came into contact with her. She was everyone’s “MawMaw”. Her earthly presence will be greatly missed but we know that she is with our Lord in Heaven kicking up her heels and is no longer suffering the trails and pains of this world. Lillian was preceded in death by her mother, father and husband of 59 years, Argus Eugene “AE” Clower Jr. Lillian is survived by her son, Richard Clower, her son Ronald Clower and wife Barbara, her granddaughter, Shelly Clower, her granddaughter Sarah Keathley and husband Steve, their children, her great grandchildren Luke and Katherine, her granddaughter Elizabeth Clayton and husband Arthur, their children, her great grandchildren, Lily Kate and Arthur, her great granddaughter Tiffany Clower and fiance Cody, and Tiffany’s daughter, her great, great grandchild Lily Mae; also survived by Ron’s wife Barbara’s children who were close to Lillian, Matthew Aikin and Derek Aikin (deceased). Following the memorial service, the family will receive friends at the home of great granddaughter, Tiffany Clower at 801 E. Market Street in Honey Grove, Texas.
