Lillian Young Kerr's Obituary
Lillian Young Kerr, a longtime Dallas resident, passed away on 4/3/2012 in Arlington,TX at the age of 90. She worked as a reporter for the Dallas Times Herald after completing her studies in journalism at what is now the University of North Texas. At the Herald she met fellow reporter James Kerr, Jr. They married on August 13, 1944 at Highland Park Methodist Church. He later became news bureau chief for WBAP television. Jimmy and Lillian enjoyed teaching children’s Sunday School and were instrumental in launching the Older Adult We Care Ministry at the Highland Park United Methodist Church. Lillian was preceded in death by parents James Baily Young and Vermelle Hill Young and husband James Kerr. Lillian will be lovingly remembered by her children Sandra and husband King Joiner of Arlington, Sheila and husband Richard Sorgee of Austin, and Alicia and husband David Marshall of Katy, TX. She is also survived by grandchildren Jim Joiner and wife Mellie, Ann Jeannette Joiner, Jillian Marshall, Bethany Marshall, great grandchildren Brennaugh and Annaliese Joiner, and niece Caroline Young.
