Lillian Rae Vasquez's Obituary
Lillian “Lee” Rae Vasquez, 68, of Garland, Texas, passed away on February 9, 2026. After months of treatment and unwavering determination, Lee had recently been told that her scans showed no evidence of cancer. Her passing was sudden and unexpected, and she left this world quietly in her sleep at home.
Lee was born on June 6, 1957, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Tommy and Grace Vasquez. She arrived with one big brother, James, already waiting to meet her, and was later joined by Tommy and Linda. She grew up surrounded by a lively circle of aunts, uncles, and cousins, and proudly called herself a Hirschi Husky.
In 1976, Lee welcomed the light of her world, her son Gabriel Vasquez. In her early working years, she spent time at Sprague Electric, where she enjoyed working with her hands and being part of a team.
In 1989, Lee moved to Dallas and began what would become a 30‑year career with the IRS. She rose to the role of Senior Manager, where her natural leadership — and yes, her famous bossy streak — finally had a proper job title. She genuinely enjoyed serving the public and working with a diverse group of people, many of whom became lifelong friends.
Lee loved fiercely and lived loudly. Her family — Tommy and his wife Cynthia; their sons Jacob and his wife Sam, with their children Henry and Elinore, and Christopher; her brother James and his wife Maria; and her beloved sister Linda, who went ahead to welcome her in heaven — all knew her deep love, goofy humor, stubborn streak, and boundless generosity.
She is also remembered with love by her cousin Bobby and her dear friend April, both of whom remained steady presences in her life.
Lee and M’Lisa Wilson chose each other in 1995, making it official in 2014 when the law finally caught up with their hearts. Across more than 30 years together, they created a life full of laughter and tears, shopping sprees, travels, craft fairs, a growing art collection, and a home shared with cherished fur babies. M’Lisa kept Lee grounded, giving her something to look forward to every single day.
Lee loved movies, music, and a good strong opinion — and she never hesitated to share any of them. She delighted in dropping movie quotes into everyday conversation, especially the sharp one‑liners from Steel Magnolias, which she delivered with perfect timing. If a song she liked came on in the grocery store, she’d start dancing in the aisle without a hint of embarrassment. And when she wasn’t dancing, she was tuned into Bravo’s Housewives series, talking to them like they were in the room and offering her take on every twist, feud, and bit of gossip.
She was the kind of person who showed up, spoke up, and loved big. Life with Lee was never dull, and that’s exactly how she liked it — full of energy, laughter, and a little bit of mischief.
