Lillie Lucretia Maxwell's Obituary
MAXWELL, Lillie Lucretia “Lou” Cathey Maxwell. Lou Maxwell, 81, born on September 20, 1934 in Dallas, Texas and passed away November 1, 2015 in Dallas, Texas. Born to Chester Cathey and Emma Dora DeArman Cathey. Lou married James Maxwell in 1954 and started her family in 1956. Lou is survived by husband James Thornton Maxwell, four children and their spouses: Lisa & Greg Steible, Kelley & Doug Maxwell, Molly & Todd Ridley and Holly & John Maxwell, all of Dallas, and was beloved “Granmama” to her nine grandchildren: Victoria Steible, Kendra & Gregory Steible, Riley Maxwell, Casey Maxwell, Mary-Todd Ridley, Cedar Maxwell, Henry Ridley, Pace Maxwell and Emmylou Maxwell. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1952 and rarely, if ever, missed a high school reunion — such was her love for old friends. Family was always central to Lou’s life. She was a devoted and resourceful homemaker, and her dedication to her children’s education was exemplified by her PTA leadership and school volunteerism. After her children were grown, Lou shined most brightly as a loving grandparent, and cherished her role as the official “baby holder.” Second to family, she found great pleasure and camaraderie in Antiquers club and was a member of the North Dallas Woman’s Club. She enjoyed collecting various glassware and lustreware to put alongside her countless pictures of grandchildren. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. J. Paul Sanders for his decades of caring for Lou. Services will be held Thursday, November 5 at 3pm at East Dallas Christian Church, 629 N Peak St in Dallas.
