Lillie Belle Stooksberry's Obituary
STOOKSBERRY, LILLIE BELLE of Mesquite, Texas peacefully passed on to our Lord Jesus Christ on August 23, 2013. She was born on May 23, 1931 in Rush Springs , Oklahoma to Allie Mae and James Monroe Dyer. She was one of 17 children and graduated from Friendship High School in Altus, Oklahoma where she was on the basketball team. She moved to Dallas ,Texas where she met Cecil Stooksberry, who captured her heart and they were married on November 4, 1950. They had four children and raised their family in Mesquite. She ran an employment counseling service for many years. She was a devoted wife and mother and her six greatest blessings called her “Grandma”. Her favorite activity was spending time with her family, especially the annual excursion to the State Fair of Texas, family holiday celebrations, and anything that involved her grandchildren. The highlight of her year was the annual family reunion at Lake Texoma on Labor Day weekend that was lovingly called ” The Dysfunctional Dyer Family Reunion – we put the ‘ fun ‘ in dysfunctional !” She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years , Cecil Stooksberry; son: Cecil Stooksberry, Jr. and his wife, Kim; son : Jerry Stooksberry ; daughter : Angie Rogers and her husband , David; son: Tim Stooksberry and his wife, Amy; grandchildren : Jayme Lyn Murphy; Blair and Brandon Rogers; Connor , Dylan, and Courtney Stooksberry; sisters: Opal Matthews, Nadine Bierschwale, Bobbie Chester, and Patsy Kennett. And many numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 pm on Monday , August 26, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Restland Memorial Chapel. The family would like to thank the staff of the Christian Care Center for their tender care of her while she resided there. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Dallas Chapter Office at 4144 N. Central Expressway, Suite 750, Dallas, Texas 75204. I Peter 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
