Linda Ellen Buzzard's Obituary
Linda Ellen Dewey Buzzard, 76, of Arlington Texas died peacefully at her house on September 28, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Linda Ellen was born August 22, 1946 in Columbus, Kansas to John and Hazel Esther (Niday) Dewey.
Linda Ellen was baptized and became a member of the First Christian Church in Columbus KS on April 16, 1961. She graduated from CCRHS in Columbus with the class of 1964. She went on to graduate from St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Kansas City, Missouri in 1967.
On November 11, 1967 Linda Ellen and Charles O. Buzzard were married in Columbus at the First Christian Church. Her husband of 54 years survives of the home. They lived and worked in the Springfield and St. Joseph, Missouri area until they moved to Dallas, Texas in 1975. It was here that Linda Ellen began a long nursing career with Baylor Hospital. In 1985 she became Director of Surgical Services at Baylor Grapevine. She held this position until her retirement in 2000.
While living in Richardson, Texas she met Mary Stevens (Miss Charlie to her friends) who became her “second sister”, they attended concerts, plays, and community events together.
Linda Ellen was always adventurous. She has been up in hot air balloons, para-sailed, and travelled abroad.
She has always been very fond of cats and had a few special ones she loved throughout her life. She loved decorating the house for Christmas. Last few years her dear friend Beth helped decorate the house. She loved having family, friends, and neighbors to house, especially during holidays. She opened her home to both her nephew Mark and niece Rebecca who lived with her and Charles at some point in their lives. She was so generous and made those in her life feel loved, truly and unconditionally.
After her retirement, Linda Ellen’s life was devoted to blessing others with amazing and generous acts of kindness. She also enjoyed knitting and quilting. Most of her “beautiful creations” were given away.
Linda Ellen was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved maternal grandmother Lula Gray.
