Linda F. Cockerham's Obituary
Linda went to be with the Lord during her sleep in the early morning hours of June 29, 2024. Linda Frank Cockerham was born on May 25, 1939, in Terrell, Texas, to Frank and Annice (Henderson) Hunt. She graduated from W. W. Samuell High School in Dallas in 1959. After graduating, she worked for a few years in downtown Dallas as an elevator operator and a switchboard operator until she landed her dream job as a homemaker. Linda married the love of her life, Billy Jack Cockerham, on May 30, 1969. She instantly became a stepmom to his four children, and they welcomed one of their own a couple of years later. She had a very blessed life serving and loving her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family, friends, and church families.
After Billy Jack’s passing in 2017, she tried taking small breaks from her all-time-favorite hobby of talking on the phone. She enjoyed leading and participating in Bible studies, playing Bingo and other games, and doing art projects with her friends at Lake Village. When the world shutdown during the pandemic, her church family from Lewisville Bible Church kept her spirits up by mailing her weekly church bulletins and many, many sweet cards and letters. Once her body gave up on her, she didn’t let her bed get her down. She went back to spending hours talking to friends and family on the phone and watching the World Champion Texas Rangers play ball on television.
Linda is survived by 2 stepsons, Billy Cockerham and Freddy Cockerham; her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer & Dustin Smith; 8 grandchildren, Joe Castillo, Katrina Johnson, Billy Cockerham, Jr., Freddy Cockerham, Jr., Stephanie Blalock, Lacie Huggins, Merrick Smith and Dalton Smith; many great-grandchildren & great-great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews & cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Billy Jack Cockerham; her sister, Patricia Cobb; her stepdaughter, Sue Huggins and stepson, Jeffrey Cockerham.
