Lindsey Kathryn Fields' Obituary
Lindsey Kathryn Fields
Lindsey was born to Tom & Jane Moore on April 24, 1982. She peacefully passed away April 23, 2022, one day before her 40th birthday. She is survived by her loving husband, Matthew, her four children Molly (11), Marian (9), James (6), and Michael (4), her parents, her brother John & wife Adrienne and their 4 children Will (9), Brooke (7), Jack (5), Hannah (20mths), Matthew’s parents, Mike & Rose Ann Fields, a very large, loving extensive family and a village of mothers who all nurtured, guided, and supported her entire life.
Wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, leader, advisor, and lifelong student, Lindsey always had a goal ahead of her ready to achieve with focused determination. Born three months prematurely, she beat the survival odds in what would become typical “Lindsey-style.” She proved everyone wrong and not only survived the odds but thrived. She never let a diminished lung capacity keep her from becoming a trombone player and member of the Mighty Berkner High School (Class of 2000) marching band. She went on to march in the University of North Texas Mean Green band during her freshman year. She loved university life and graduated with a BA in Speech-Language Pathology/Audiology, a MS in Development and Family Studies, a MED in Counseling, and was near completion of a Ph. D in Higher Education. She loved her work at UNT beginning in housing life and then moving to use her research and passion to help students succeed. She loved her current position with Collin College advising students in the Colony High School early college program. Guiding others to find their path and accomplish their goals gave her great joy.
She was a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient, participated in several Wider-Opportunities, earned Girl Scout religious awards and was a GSUSA Lifetime member. She could not wait for her two daughters to be able to begin their own path through scouting so she could be a troop leader and share her experiences. She deeply admired the women referred lovingly to as “The Village” who were her role models and leaders.
Lindsey was battling breast cancer during the last nine months and was determined to beat it because, in her words, “there was no other choice.” She journaled her fight constantly and reminded all friends to “please, get your boobies checked!”
She was immensely proud of her children and the unique gifts and talents each brings to the world. If you knew her, you know how she loved sharing their perspectives of the world and showcasing their talents. The family would love for you to leave a note , or bring one to the service, letting her children know the Lindsey you knew and how you knew her.
She was an organ donor. Her corneas will continue to help another.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held of May 6, 2022, at 1:30pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church located at 600 S. Jupiter, Richardson, Texas. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas supporting the girls of our community to grow strong and make a difference to the world.
Funeral arrangements for Lindsey Kathryn Fields have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243, and can be reached at (972) 238-7111.
