Linnie Bea Alguire's Obituary
Linnie Bea Thornton Alguire was born on June 27, 1917, in a small town outside of Lubbock to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Clay Thornton. She died on January 28, 2015 in Dallas, Texas. She was the fourth child out of six fun-loving Thornton’s. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family, half of whom also lived into their 90’s. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Pierce Alguire, a son, Dr. Robert Thornton Alguire (Mary) of Fayetteville, AR, sisters, Fern Timian (Emil) and Monte Louise Wilson, and brothers, Lawrence Thornton (Winnie), Dean Thornton (Marie) and Dr. Mel Thornton (Gerry) and grandson, Brian Alguire. She is survived by her son, Richard (Diane) of Hopewell, NY, and her daughter, Judy Williams of Dallas, Texas with whom she has resided with since 2001. She was a 5th generation Texan whose family settled in Erath County before the Civil War. Her grandfather was the Sheriff of Breckinridge, Texas when she was a young girl (boots, badge, handlebar, mustache). Linnie and her husband, Bob, lived many places where he was a homebuilder, including Duncan, Oklahoma and Roswell, New Mexico. They retired to The Purley Gates Ranch in Winnsboro, Texas. Linnie enjoyed travelling and was a voracious reader and puzzle worker until Macular Degeneration paid a visit. Affectionately known as “MeeMaw” to those who loved her, Linnie’s generous heart and gift of hospitality made a lasting impact on all who knew her. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were blessed beyond measure to have had MeeMaw at such an important time in their lives. When healthy, she was a regular attendee at Prestoncrest Church of Christ. She was baptized on March 29, 2007 by her grandson, Russ Williams. Linnie was the proud, loving grandmother to 12 grandchildren, Jim Alguire (Deanna), Chris Alguire, and Courtney Weaver (Thomas), whose mother was Michel Wintersmith Alguire (deceased); Keith Alguire, Tim Alguire (Elaine), and Cathy Mushet (Dave), whose mother is Barrie Teague Alguire; Bryce Williams (Leigh), Brandon Williams (Stephanie), Russ Williams (Carrie), Victor Williams, and Susan Hoag (Brandon) whose father is Don Williams. She was a great-grandmother to 20 and a great-great-grandmother to 2. Linnie’s family was close-knit and she has many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. The family is grateful to the caregivers who provided many years of loving support to Linnie: Andrea Acevado, Maria Robledo and Diana Robledo, and to Vitas Hospice Services, especially Natasha and Miriam.
