Lisa Ruth Jordan's Obituary
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Lisa Ruth Jordan (formerly Engledow). Lisa was born at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Texas in 1946. She graduated from Bryan Adams High School in 1964. Following high school, she attended the University of Texas at Austin and Southern Methodist University. While attending Southern Methodist, she met John Jordan, who she would later marry in 1968. Lisa and John would have three sons, including a set of identical twins. Tragically, John passed away in 1982, shortly after the twins’ first birthday. Lisa would not remarry. Despite these challenging circumstances, Lisa persevered and raised her boys as a single parent. She was incredibly creative, smart, funny, and positive, even later in life as her health deteriorated. In her youth, she enjoyed traveling, attending concerts, and weaving on her floor loom. Later in life, she enjoyed collecting antiques, attending jazz concerts, and watching classic films. She remained engaged with local and national social politics as they pertained to race, women’s, and gay rights throughout her life. Lisa is survived by her three sons, Jason, James, and Morgan, and four grandchildren, Seska, Blake, Madeleine, and Charlotte.
