Liza Alexander Ragland's Obituary
Liza Alexander Ragland (Liz) Tous Les Saints Dansent Au Paradise Liza Celeste Alexander Ragland (Liz), passed from this world into the light on April 26, 2011. She was the eldest of six children, Liza, Lois, Jane, Paul, William and Robert. She was born in Paris, Missouri, to Paul and Ruth Alexander. Liza grew up in Paris among a large, extended family. She graduated from Paris High School at the age of sixteen. She was voted the first Miss Paris in 1935 and returned to be honored at the Miss Paris Pageant in 2006. Shortly after finishing school, Liza moved to Jefferson City, Missouri, where she began her career at the state capital. There, she met Walter Max Ragland, her boss and future husband. When Max retired from Gulf Oil In Orange, Texas, he and Liza moved to Dallas, Texas, where she began a career with Lincoln Property Company. During her twenty years with Lincoln, she managed several properties at the Village on Greenville Avenue. She was the recipient of the Gold Medallion Award for excellence in management. After her retirement with Lincoln, Liz continued to work part-time for GPA of Richardson, Texas. She wanted to be “productive” as long as possible. Liza was a member of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church where she volunteered and met many lifelong friends. She is survived by her sister, Jane Shaw of Wichita, Kansas, brother, William (Bus) Alexander of Oak Hill, Virginia, her daughters, Sally Townsend (Jackson) of Austin, Julie Kayem (Douglas) of Dallas, Texas. Grandchildren, Kristen Polster (Matthew) of Dallas, Texas, Jackson Townsend IV of Austin, Texas, Max Kayem (Carie) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Joshua Townsend (Melissa) of Austin, Texas. Great-grandchild, Alexandra Polster, the apple of GG’s eye! Also survived by many nieces and nephews, especially, Suzanne Patterson and Laura Leslie. A graveside service will be held at Restland on Greenville Avenue in Dallas, Texas on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Scottish Rite Hospital, 2222 Welborn Street, Dallas, Texas 75219, or to KERA, 3000 Harry Hines Boulevard, Dallas, Texas 75201. We would like to recognize and thank all the staff and caregivers at the Signature Place where Liz lived for six years. She had a wonderful group of friends and some very special table mates.
