LILLY, LIZZIE LEE (SUMMERFIELD) loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was born July 2, 1927 to Fred and Sarah Bell Summerfield: The Lord called her home on March 17, 2014. Lizzie or “Tute” as her parents and siblings called her was the elder daughter & surrogate “mother” to her younger siblings. Raised on a farm in Terrell, TX working alongside her father and the other siblings to help provide for the family. At an early age she united with Union Valley Baptist Church, where she was baptized. She later joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church, after moving to Garland in 1966 she and family joined Sims Chapel Baptist Church where she served on the Usher board, Mission, and Nurses Guild. April 26, 1953 Lizzie married John Henry Lilly, to this union two daughters were born, Carolyn Ann, and Ivy Denise. Lizzie worked as an aide in nursing homes in Terrell, TX and in housekeeping at Memorial Hospital of Garland and later at Oil Well Industries in Garland, TX as one of the first women to operate a fork-rift. Lizzie is preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Fred and Sarah Bell Summerfield; sisters, Mary Davis and Martha Jackson; brothers, Fred Summerfield Jr., John Summerfield, Billy Summerfield, Clarence Summerfield, Willie Summerfield and son-in-law, Kenneth Williams. Lizzie leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Carolyn Ann Williams of Rowlett, TX, Ivy Denise Lilly of Dallas, TX, granddaughter, Renee Peterson of Garland, TX, great-grandchildren, Christopher Peterson and Christina Haynes, her twin brother, Robert Summerfield of Greenville TX, brother, Joe Summerfield of Dallas TX and a host of family and friends.
