Lois Molly Folse's Obituary
Lois Molly Folse peacefully passed away on the night of Wednesday, February 8, 2023, with her son by her side. As she took her last breaths, Jesus came down and spirited her away to the place He has been preparing for her. Lois lived a wonderfully blessed life. She grew up in Dallas, Texas as the youngest of six, daughter to Marvin and Minnie Thomas. She graduated in the top of her class from W.H. Adamson High School and soon married Emery Johnson. Lois and Emery had a daughter, Donica, a graduate of Hockaday and SMU who owns and operates Dallas’ most successful Spanish tapas restaurant, Café Madrid. Lois remarried in 1966 to Parker C. Folse, Jr., a prominent Dallas architect. Lois and Parker had a daughter, Micheau, a graduate of Hockaday and the University of Texas and entrepreneur who now resides in Laguna Beach, California. Lois and Parker were very active at the Park Cities Baptist Church and were well-known Dallas socialites, often hosting large parties at their beautiful Bluffview home that Parker designed.
Lois was a runway and print model, an interior designer, and a chef that owned her own catering company. She had many talents and was always the life of the party. She frequently participated in the Texas State Fair cooking contests and often won the coveted purple and blue ribbons. She was incredibly creative. She always designed visually stunning floral arrangements for the Bluffview Garden Club competitions and often won Best in Show, losing once to her daughter Micheau—a pain we were often reminded of. In 1984 she lost her husband Parker but was also blessed with the birth of her son, also named Parker. Lois was faced with the daunting task of raising a son without a father and she answered the call. A graduate of the Episcopal School of Dallas, the University of Texas at Dallas, and the University of Oklahoma School of Law, her son Parker now resides in New Mexico where he practices law. She remarried in 1992 to Fred F. Alford, Jr., President of Alford Warehouse Co. Fred died a year later, but that did not slow Lois down for too long. No matter what was going on in Lois’ life she always took great care to provide for her family. She was an active mother to three, a grandmother to four (Christanna, Santiago, Arabella, and Evelyn), a great grandmother to two (Hadleigh and Penelope), a caring daughter, a fun sister (survived by Cecil Thomas and Dee Stringer), and a believer in Christ that passed His teachings down her lineage.
She regularly attended her Fact to Fiction book club, traveled the world, loved the ocean and spent many days at the family home in Galveston, her weekends at the Dallas Country Club, and cared deeply for her friends. She spent many summers fishing the lakes of Minnesota at the family summer home and loved listening to the loons call on the still, glassy waters. A special thanks to Jakeidra Jackson and Nigisti Haile for taking such great care of Lois in her later years. She will be missed by all who knew her but we should also be comforted, “For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with Him those who have died.”
Lois’ funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, February 19, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas, 75243. Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow.
