Lois Catherine Hebbard's Obituary
Lois Catherine Ward Hebbard was born on July 23, 1925 in Clarksville, Texas and passed from this life on July 29, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years Wilmer and daughter Kaye. Catherine is survived by her son Don Hebbard of Dallas, along with nine grand-children and eleven great-grandchildren who knew her as “Mimi.”
After living in Texas, Catherine moved to Orlando where she graduated from Orlando High and worked as a telephone operator. Catherine attended Abilene Christian College where she majored in Business Administration. She married Wilmer at the close of World War II and following his academic appointments at ACC and the University of Oklahoma the couple moved to Hartford, Connecticut where he worked as an CPA for Pratt Whitney and they adopted her daughter Kaye and son Don. There they established the first Churches of Christ in the state as self-supporting missionaries for almost twenty-five years.
Catherine’s home since 1968 has been in Dallas. She worked as a nurse’s assistant for numerous medical practices in the city including Dr’s. Pizette, Comiss, and Hillert. She was active in support of Dallas Christian Schools. Everyone knew “Wilmer and Catherine” and their partnership and love was her proudest accomplishment.
A woman of devout faith, Wilmer and Catherine were members of the White Rock Church of Christ where she served as an elder’s wife from 1975 until Wilmer’s passing in 1998. She was active as a Bible School teacher, woman’s study group leader and providing pastoral care.
Love of family and love of the Lord were her greatest commitments. Family and faith stand as a legacy of a life given in service to both. She is reunited now with the love of her life.
