Jo McClure was wonderfully wise, dignified, kind, and generous. She was an independent thinker, which is why we were in the same Sunday School class for many years even though we're not the same age. Her contributions to the dialogue in Sunday School were invariably deeply insightful. I especially recall her description of growing up on a farm in southeast Dallas County, reminding us of our not-so-distant rural past. . She became and continued to be a dear friend at First United Methodist Church with whom I sat in many Sunday morning services. Along with many, many others, I missed her greatly when she moved to the mid-cities and will continue to miss her but I celebrate the blessing of having known her and having been her friend.
